Bio

Goldie Lyons is a U.S.-born mixed media artist whose work engages themes of Self Realization, metaphysics, and intuitive perception. His practice integrates painting, drawing, collage, sculpture, sound, and video, often combining traditional materials with unconventional tools and methods.

Having lived throughout the U.S. and abroad, Lyons draws from a range of cultural, philosophical, and spiritual influences. He is best known for his Meta Mystic series — an ongoing body of work exploring altered states of consciousness through layered abstraction. His paintings are created in a meditative, altered state, using energetic gesture and material variation to access and express unconscious imagery.

Goldie’s work invites viewers into an open-ended experience where meaning is not prescribed but discovered. Based in Idaho, he has exhibited in group shows at contemporary spaces across the country, with work steadily gaining the attention of collectors and curators.

Artist Statement

My process involves working in an intuitive meditative state — a kind of internal reverie — where decisions about color, materials, composition, and titling emerge through a dialogue with altered perception. I use a wide range of tools (including palette knives, squeegees, scrapers, and even kitchen utensils) to apply and remove layers of acrylic, wax, graphite, and ink. Many works also incorporate collage, metallic materials, or gemstones such as moonstone and mica, introducing symbolic resonance through physical matter.

Rather than illustrate a specific belief system, these works reflect a shared dimension of human experience: the spiritual, psychological, and metaphysical search for insight. They are meant to bypass the logical mind and speak instead to the deep unconscious — functioning as both map and mirror for the viewer’s own journey. Whether the viewer's response is emotional, philosophical, or intuitive, the experience completes the work.

Each piece is a crystallized moment of internal navigation — a gesture toward the invisible, an artifact of the energetic process behind it. The resulting imagery invites contemplation, inner recognition, and a sense of movement through unseen terrain.
